In our summer exhibition we present a lively interplay of views on nature and landscape, a theme that we perceive more consciously during the holiday season in particular. When doing so, our view reaches from idyll and refuge to disturbances in the natural balance.

For the first time we are showing paintings by Sabine Beyerle (* 1975 in Leonberg, studied at the UdK Berlin), whose pictures draw on motives she has found during her numerous trips throughout the world as well as in the Berlin environment, for example the Tempelhofer Feld. For the most part, she adds an element of irritation in the form of everyday objects to the pure experience of nature. Tim Ernst (* 1977 in Cologne, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe) is known for his pluralism of styles, and we present his new objects (Cologne beer glass), in which he incorporates fantastic scenes using colour (pigment) and miniature figures. These become an outdoor space for bizarre and ambiguous things. Niels Sievers (* 1979 in Niebüll, studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy), whose artistic driving force lies in capturing light in all its nuances and effects, shows himself as a virtuoso combining oil paint and graffiti spray paint in his new paintings as well. Lakes and forests become mental free spaces in his pictures. In his current series of PostCuts with the title “Botanische Büsten”, Roland Stratmann (* 1964 in Weseke (NRW), studied at the Udk Berlin) works with only two postcards for the first time. In doing so, he adds an extremely precise cut to one postcard, folds it up with a second postcard so that the landscape sections underneath reflect unexpected image constellations that challenge our views. Anja Warzecha (*1989 in Bochum, studied at the art college Burg Giebichenstein, Halle) develops literally mystical landscape spaces: from nature books, she extracts, for example, mountainous land forms and vegetal structures with a scalpel and rearranges them by stacking acrylic sheets behind each other into dioramas of landscapes never seen before. In his paintings, Filip Zorzor (* 1974 in Bucharest, studied at the Udk Berlin) creates complex structures in which he builds a sensual network created by the tension of lines, gestural impulses and watercolour areas. His primarily abstract compositions usually base on very concrete references to reality, such as, for example, the picture “Zákány”, the place in Hungary where the borders were closed during the refugee exodus.
